Tot School

I know it has been a long time since I have put together a tot school post.  Now that things have calmed down, I am able to get back into Tot School with not only my son, but also with my daughter.

This is the last week in review:

We were able to pick up some great Brain Quest packets.  These are great!  My Son Loves these.  They ask questions that are age appropriate.  He was having fun going through these on his own and pointing out what he knew.

We got RC a magnetic Mickey Mouse scene instead of putting scenes together he was trying to put the magnetic characters back in their place.  He got most of them right!

This week we have had some great weather, which means we went to the park! RC loves the park and going down the slide. It is also great to get out of the house after a long winter.

Tot School

As I said here, we have been busy with learning the alphabet, colors, and shapes.

RC was coloring an apple book. Learning about the letter A.

On one of the last nice days of summer, RC thought pool time would be fun!

RC learning to count as Mommy was rolling coins.  He was a big help picking the individual coins up and putting them in the roll.  It was a great fine motor skill for him.

Even baby M got into the motor skill activities.  She is growing up so fast and really enjoys making this spin.

A New Year of Tot School!

As the school year starts all around the United States, we have decided to start tot school with a theme and a plan!  We will be teaching the alphabet.  Each letter will be the focus for two weeks.  Once both weeks are over I will post pictures of all the activities that we have  completed!

Please join me in this wonderful adventure of learning the alphabet!

Tot School

My son has been showing interest in learning and exploring new things, so I am taking every opportunity with him to teach him.  Each week we do different activities that are geared towards learning.  Some weeks there is a theme, while other weeks it is a lot of different activities.

We always have his ABC place mat and flashcards handy for him to learn those.

Having fun learn shapes with this minibook.  (ABC Place mat to left)

These past 2 weeks has been Olympic Theme.  Ryley had a wonderful time with some of the activities.

Matching card.  He is still a little young for this, but he likes to pick them up and    put them in the bag.

Starting to work on our colors.

Working with Bingo Markers RC had a lot of fun coloring with them!

We also introduced the letter O for Olympics.

We were able to pick up a story reader and a Leap Pad for really cheap, RC loves to listen and play with it.

As usual we went to the library for some fun!

Here are some of the resources I used with my son.

Since July 16 and 20th were space related, that was the theme for the week!

RC was creating a Moon with the astronaut going over it.  He found it fun to put it on his head!

He had fun coloring it with the marker!  Thank goodness they are washable!

Match the pictures!  He likes to pick them up and put them on the ground.  He is slowly understanding to match the pictures.

Going over the shapes!

Last week the theme was Dogs.  Since we have 2 dogs, my son loves dogs.  It was the first word that he could associate with the picture.  I thought it would be fun to do a dog theme.

Sorting game.  Thanks to Grandmama, RC has a small stash of buttons to sort.  He was having fun picking up a bunch and putting them in the cups.  He also worked on picking up only one at a time.

RC coloring a Lady and the Tramp coloring page.

He then thought it was more fun to play with the Crayons!

Since the weather was so nice, he went out in the pool!  He loves playing in it and splashing everywhere.  Do you see his tongue trying to drink the water?

Of course the next thing was to pour the water on himself.  It was such a joy to watch him, because he was so happy!

He then thought that it would be funny to pour water all over Mommy’s feet!

We also did a lot of activities based on books by Audrey and Don Wood for the Summer Virtual Book Club. You can find out what we did here!

Working on his fine motor skills he is enjoying time at the library’s discovery room.  He loves to play with all the educational tools.

Our local library has a discovery room filled with educational toys. It is fun for him to have some different toys to play with.

He is also learning how to talk!  It is amazing how much he is learning right now.  We are working with him to start to put objects and words together.

Last week my family and I had the privilege of going to the beach.  I thought that it would be fun to have a beach theme for the week.

All of our books were beach themed!  He loved reading about Spot!

We created a sun paper plate craft!  Here RC is using the glue to help glue the sun glasses to the plate.

Here is the final result!

It wouldn’t have been a beach trip with Crabs!

We spent some time at the pool.  He loved walking in and out of the baby pool.

Of course we had tons of fun at the actual beach!

RC loves to play outside. He was having so much fun playing with the dirt! The following day it rained and it was interesting to see him play with the mud!

Our local library has a discovery room filled with educational toys. It is fun for him to have some different toys to play with. He really likes the fire truck maze!

RC found out how to stack cups.  I placed 6 same size cups in front of him ans let him have at it.  It kept him busy for a while!
